A day before our Lasallian Days celebration, we first have to endure a series of examinations for 2 days straight. We were done for Anatomy and now it’s time to face Bio Chemistry and Physiology. It was another sleepless night for me. After the exam, I felt so free and happy even if I have a feeling I didn’t do well.
A few hours after the last exam, my mom called telling me that they were coming to the dorm. I was excited since it has been almost weeks since I last saw them. I hurried downstairs and waited for them. I kissed both of my parents and I asked them ‘San tayo kakain?’ Then my mom replied, ‘Hindi na tayo kakain, kasi aalis na si Daddy bukas, hindi pa siya nakakapag-impake baka gabihin kami.’ At that moment, I immediately felt sad and wanted to cry. So we said goodbye to each other and gave me 1000 pesos, my dad told me ‘O kumain ka na lang, padeliver na lang kayo.’
After my parents left, I slept off my sadness and woke up at around 7pm. I was kinda hungry and decided to order at McDonald’s. I ordered Fillet ‘o Fish wih large French fries plus orange juice. While eating, I decided to watch Love Actually since I was alone in my room. As I finished eating my meal, I heard a knocking sound on my door, to my surprise it was Han and Rachelle. I asked them what’s up they replied with ‘Kala ba namin mag-order tayo ng pizza?’ And since I promised, I will treat them that day, nagpadeliver kami. Kahit na busog na ko, I really hate breaking promises so ayun, nagpadeliver kami.haha We ordered an 18” 4 Seasons pizza and 2 boxes of Baked potato halves from Yellow Cab. We were supposed to watch a movie that night unfortunately Jill was busy preparing for the fair so we ended up watch some tv shows and falling asleep. Jill came back at around 2AM.

125 item Theoretical exam + 60 item Practical exam + 2 hour sleep = a very tiring and stressful day, not to mention that there will be another wave of examinations the following day. I get really frustrated with myself easily especially after an exam where I have a feeling that I’m going to fail it. I really don’t like showing it much because I hate it when people rant about it so I guess I’m making the world a better place by not ranting.haha
On the positive note, I both passed the two exams on that day. I couldn’t be any happier. :)

It was a Sunday, and during Sundays I’m used to going to chuch in the morning and just bum for rest of the day. This Sunday I wasn’t in Antipolo, I was in Dasmarinas, Cavite and yes I went to mass that morning but I wasn’t allowed to bum for the rest of the day because I need to study. Even though, we needed to study, Jill, Rachelle and I were able to do other things aside from studying. :)
Here is a picture of my entry in my planner for that Sunday.

Pink Starbust! my most favorite Starburst. :)
Calderobo- yes, there is such thing as a combination of Caldereta and Adobo. Yum
90’s flashback- watched old school music videos of our past (M2M, N’sync, Westlife, Hanson).
‘Tae ka eee :|’ - received a text from Percy.
‘Nakiki-chismis ka?’ -Hanna’s mom saw me in Rachelle and Jill’s room, she thought we were having ‘chismisan’ instead of studying.HAHA
Jamming session- while having a break from studying, we decided to sing some songs and recorded it. Yes, parang walang exams.
I had a lot of fun studying with Jill and Rachelle. By the way, I passed both Anatomy theoretical and practical. Wuhoo!
While we were reviewing for Anatomy, I let Rachelle and Jill listen to the Sinulog ‘11 theme song, since I was still not yet over Sinulog. I really can’t believe that at this time last week I was in Cebu, enjoying myself, not worrying about any quizzes, and exams, or any academic stuff. One week after, I am facing the reality of quizzes, exams and academics. Time really flies when you’re having fun and I really hate that feeling of having so little time for fun and more time for school. Oh well, in a matter of 4-5 years, I’ll be free from school and probably I’ll have more time of doing other things for myself. Hopefully.
I don’t know how to download the Sinulog theme but here’s the link, the song plays on the home page http://www.sinulog.ph/
During lunch time today, I went to Jill and Rachelle’s dorm room to eat lunch. The moment I went inside, Jill was about to open her canned ham and asked for help on how to open it. I immediately helped her open it. I remembered she was holding the key (the one you’ll need to open the can), which was still attached to the can itself. She was so afraid to pull it off the can in thinking she won’t be able to open it (because the last time she used a can opener to open it). So as I approached her, I pulled off the key and she shouted!!haha I swear if I relive the moment and take a video recording of her reaction, I would do it over and over again. I showed her how to open it properly and opened the rest so Jill can eat her lunch.
I dedicate this post to Jill. That moment shall be immortalized forever. :)
(The can wasn’t exactly shaped like this, it was the only picture I can find with the key.)

I don’t normally get sick easily. But today, I was feeling weirdly sick. :| I remembered before my birthday last year, I got really really sick to the point that my roomie, Christine, got infected and got sick as well. I really don’t like infecting people especially Christine because the effects on her are greater.
Today, our schedule subjects were Psychiatry in the morning and ComMed in the afternoon. I decided not to go to our morning class since I was too lazy and wanted to sleep some more. For our ComMed class, we really don’t have any class that day but we were asked to meet for our group project. Since my group mates and I decided not to meet that day, it will just be a waste of time going there.
So basically, I was literally in bed the whole day doing nothing and I forgot the feeling of being a bum. Even for a day, having a rest day like this in med school is really a gift from heaven. A gift that even for the mere 24 hours I was able to feel free and feel my needed rest.

January 17, 2010- the day I met my idol.
The day finally arrived. The day that I was waiting for a mere 2 months. I am now in Cebu and I am here for the very famous Sinulog Festival. We were running late since the mass would start at 8am, and I was still dressing up at around 7:30. Good thing the grand stand, where the competition will be held, was just a few blocks away from the apartment. Before we left, I ate two pieces of longanisa for my breakfast before we hit the road.
I was happy to see the grand stand to be full of spectators all waiting for the program to start. The mass started at around 8am and the bishop was the one who said the mass. I think the bishop’s head gear was cool because it was not the typical hat you see in typical church masses.

Before the whole program starts, the mayor surprised the spectators by welcoming Mr. President NoyNoy Aquino, that made everybody stand up to their feet. He said a short speech before heading to the VIP area, where he watched the first part of the competition.

The dance composed of a great number of dancers per group. Each dance has its own theme and its own interpretation. Each contestant also has their own main girl dancer, who is in-charge of dancing with the Sto. Nino statue. And also the contest, only has one song that each contestant will need to use through out their performance. (Hearing the same song over and over again, the Sinulog ‘11 theme song really got stuck in my head). The dancing with the Sto. Nino started during the first ever baptism held in the Philippines. The first people whom they baptized where the Raja of Cebu and his wife, who later on changed her name into Juana. Juana was presented with the Sto. Nino and then danced with joy, the moment she received the Sto. Nino. (Yes, I know my history.haha)

The program ended by the performance of the Chinese peeps, honoring the Cebuano-Chinese relation in Cebu. (According to Han, madaming Chinese sa Cebu). And of course a great program wouldn’t end without a great fireworks display!! It was a first time for me to be upfront in a fireworks display and it was not that nice, since the smoke coming from the fireworks wasn’t that nice to smell.haha

We returned to the apartment around 9pm. We were dirty because of the mud from the roads on the way back, since it rained hard plus there was many garbage on the road. We almost stayed in Cebu for another day, unfortunately there wasn’t any flights available the following day, so we had no choice but to take our schedule flight back to Manila that day.
Yey for Sinulog! Yey for Cebu!

Woke up the following morning at around 8:30AM. As I waited for Hanna to finish taking a bath, I decided to take some pictures through the window. Yes, it looks like that somebody is ready to shoot you with a sniper rifle.

Before we left the house, photo op happened. I love how this family love taking pictures unlike my family na laging nag-kakahiyaan. :)

Then we headed for the Philippine Taoist Temple in Cebu. (I’ve just learned that the pronunciation of ‘Taoist’ is ‘Daoist’). It was situated in a very high place, that when I reached the entrance of the main temple, I was out of breath and was sweating. When went up to the higher ground and saw a beautiful view of Cebu.

It was time for lunch and we went to this place called ‘Handuraw’ which serves thin crust pizzas. I like the vibe of the place even though it looked like a place where people drink and get wasted (dahil super daming beer ads in the place). As we waited for the food, we went to the stage area and took some pictures as if we were playing a live show. The food arrived and I was so amazed by how thin the pizza crust was. I want to have a taste of that pizza again. :|

After lunch, we headed to Pelaez where the Pacho’s apartment is. We spent the whole afternoon sleeping since it was raining and we can’t go out. :( But still, the day was awesome.
Before heading out for Cebu, I have to attend my last class for the day which is our Anatomy Lab, since there was a chamber quiz I cannot skip that class. So I waited for 2 hours and 20 minutes for our group’s turn for the chamber quiz. At akalain mo yun, I was the one who was randomly picked to take the quiz. Fortunately, I was able to pinned 11 out of 20 structures correctly, which they say wasn’t a bad score.
I immediately went back to the dorm, to meet up with Hanna and her dad who was waiting for me. We left the campus around 4pm and went to Paranaque. We waited for her brother and then headed for the domestic airport around 7pm.
It was my first time in the domestic airport. It was kinda like the Singapore airport minus the cool stuff. After checking in, we ate Espressamiente’s tuna pesto pasta, and I wouldn’t mind going back to that airport just to have a taste of that pasta. While waiting for boarding, Hanna showed me some photos of their last stay in Cebu, making me more excited.

It was my second time to be traveling without my family and my first time to travel with a friend. And traveling with a friend is more fun than traveling alone. I hope there’s more of this in the future. :)

It was another first for me, when we boarded and got out of the plane outside the main airport building. It was so cool, hearing the noises the planes made while we were there. Too bad I took only a few photos. :(

Welcome to Cebu, where everything’s awesome. :)
